James Will Play vs. Pacers with Illness

Friday, March 20

ESPN's Brian Windhorst reported that James will play Friday night vs. Pacers despite having a cold.

The four-time MVP has made no secret about the fact that he's looking to pace himself this year. He took a couple of weeks off in January to help his knees and back heal. Head coach David Blatt has also sat James for a handful of games to help curb his minutes.

James is only 30 years old, but between of the Finals appearances, the deep playoff runs and the summers with the national team, he's put a ton of mileage on his body.

On March 10, the All-Star forward spoke about his desire to take more time off between now and the postseason, per Joe Vardon of the Northeast Ohio Media Group:

It's um, game by game right now. Obviously this week is a good week for us to continue to get better. We'll see how we are toward the later stages. I would love to get some more rest, especially going into the playoffs and knowing how important those games are, and how physically taxing those games can be, mentally as well, so we'll see what happens.
